Today Bangladesh has played against the Giant Australia in the 4th practice match (warm up match) before the beginning of Twenty20 World Cup 2009. Before moving on to the review of this match, it is worth mentioning that, before this match Bangladesh has won against
Holland and
Scotland convincingly. So the moral was really high.
Video Highlights of this Match zSHARE - BANVAUS 1.6.09.avi Toss: Australia won the toss and chose to bat first
Australia: 219/9 in 20 overs
Bangladesh: 181/7 in 20 overs
Result: Australia won by 38 runs
Australia’s innings: Australia started the inning magnificently. Watson (52 in 23) and Haddin (47 in 29) took Australia to 100 in just 8 overs. But they both fell to batting all-rounder Mahmudullah Riad. Later Mahmudullah picked up Symonds (27 in 14) and Ponting (14 in 12) in the 13th over. The final figure for Mahmudullah Riad was 4-0-37-4-9.25. Shakib (4-0-31-1) and Mashrafe (4-0-44-1) took the wickets of M Hussy (18 in 13) and M Clarke (35 in 18). Star of the previous match Rubel Hossain was very expensive today (3-0-44-0).
Fall of wickets: 1-100 (Watson, 8.1 ov), 2-102 (Haddin, 8.3 ov), 3-143 (Symonds, 12.3 ov), 4-144 (Ponting, 12.6 ov), 5-196 (M Hussey, 17.3 ov), 6-204 (Clarke, 18.2 ov)
Bangladesh’s inning: Bangladesh was of to a flying start thanks to Tamim Iqbal (21 in 9). But he fell to Lee in the 4th over, the next over Junaid (12 in 8) got out to Johnson. Even after both the openers were down in just 4 overs the Tigers didn't lose their courage. Tiger Captain Mohammad Ashraful and best all rounder of the world Shakib Al Hasan played a good yet attacking inning. But I really hoped that Ashraful (26 in 24) and Shakib (54 in 29) would play a little longer. After Shakib Al Hasan got out, things started to move slowly for Bangladesh. Raqibul (8 in 8), Mushfiq (11 in 14) and Mashrafe (1 in 4) failed to leave a lasting impression over this match. Mahmudullah Riad (28* in 26) and Naeem Islam (3* in 1) were not out in the end.
Fall of wickets: 1-32 (Junaid, 2.2 ov), 2-34 (Tamim, 3.2 ov), 3-92 (Ashraful, 9.1 ov), 4-132 (Shakib, 13.1 ov), 5-149 (Raqibul, 15.2 ov), 6-177 (Mushfiq, 18.5 ov), 7-178 (Mashrafe, 19.3 ov)
Improvements that might come in handy:
1. Both teams will have to work on their bowling.
2. Mashrafe has to find his form.
3. Middle order of the Bangladesh Team has to perform better.
Bangladesh will play the next practice match (warm up match) against Sri Lanka tomorrow.
All the best. Source: I am a fan of Tiger Cricket
