Summary
A great day for Sri Lanka. They lost the debutant Paranavitana in the first over but all the other batsmen have managed to get past the fifty-run mark. Jayawardene and Samaraweera combined to put on 226 runs for the third wicket in quick time as Sri Lanka appear poised for a 500-plus score. Pakistan were inconsistent with the ball and dropped a few catches as well, for which Mahela made them pay.

It's quite apparent that Pakistan cricket is in dire straights. Not only do they suffer from a serve lack of world class bowlers (of course what I mean by this statement is world class bowlers that feature regularly on the scorecard, not ones with 46 appearances in just under 12 years), but also from constant political strife within their country, which inhibits any real progress on the field. It seems that things will only get worse for the Pakistan team. Real dark days lay ahead for them.
